About Us
Because “Making it is half the fun”!
At MAKERshop we recognise that there is enormous satisfaction in making it yourself. We consider that the need to be creative is as basic to human nature as the need to reproduce. This is why craft, gardening and DIY stores are so successful. This is the driving force behind the Maker movement and we are proud to help Kiwis to scratch that basic itch.
MAKERshop provides a local New Zealand source for parts, materials and consumables for 3D printers and other digital home fabrication technologies. Many of the products we sell are used by our ingenious and inventive Kiwi Makers for things we never imagined.
We have sourced our products through our network of local and international suppliers, so that our Kiwi Makers don’t have to endure expensive freight, long delays, minimum order quantities and risky overseas credit card transactions.
Some of our products are specially manufactured for us to our own designs. We try to use and test all of the components we bring in and won’t sell anything we wouldn’t use ourselves.
Mike is a keen maker himself and a genuine kiwi bloke with a shed. He holds a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering and has worked in factory automation and mechatronics for over 20 years.
